Trip to SriSailam - Ahobilam - Mahanandi - Yaganti - Belum Caves - Alampur

Recent Pilgrimage Trip

I took one week off from work to visit only temples.

Monday, 3rd June - Trip to Yadagirigutta.

Started at home around 7.30 am. It took about one and half hours to cross the city. We reached the temple around 10. Since it is a special day (Hanuman Jayanthi) there is considerable rush at the temple. We had darshan in an hour as we got into special darshan queue. Then spent some time on the hill and went to another ancient temple about 2 kms away from the main temple beneath the hill.  

Visited Surendrapuri. It took about nearly 3 hours to go through all the statues/monuments etc,.

Back to home by 10:00 pm.

Thanks to my car, it did not give any trouble all  through the journey.

Tuesday, 4th June - Rest and preparation for the Srisailam Trip.

Wednesday, 5th June (Hyderabad to Sri Sailam) - Night Stay at Srisailam:

Hired a Vehicle as it would be tedious to travel through Ghats and need to cover other places as well.

Started at 7.30 am again. Had breakfast on the way at Sri Balaji Dhaba. Kids enjoyed the journey all through the forest. We unfortunately could not encounter any wild animals except groups of monkeys.

Took some snaps of Dam / Genco plant and reached Sri Sailam at about 12.30 pm.

On the way visited Paladara panchadara  etc,. Had lunch at Apurva Hotel (Good food).

Booked a Cottage (Duplex with three bedrooms, cost Rs.800) and took rest for hour or so. 

Went for Darshan at 6:30 pm and it took about 2 hours to take Darshan of all the temples inside.

Dinner at same hotel "Apurva".  Had good sleep as the weather was cool / cloudy and even rained in the early morning. Went for Rope Way, Boating in the SriSailam resorvoir.

Breakfast again at hotel "Apurva".

Thursday, 6th June (Srisailam to Ahobilam, Ahobilam to Mahanandi Via Nandyal) - Night Stay at Mahanandi.

Started towards to Ahobilam from Srisailam at around 11.00 am.  Visited both Ahobilam and Eguva Ahobilam. Started towards Mahanandi at 6:00 pm.

Had lunch (Free Annadanam at a math near Ahobilam)

Reached Nandyal at 9.00 pm and Mahanandi at about 9:30.  

Stayed in Tourist Hotel (New and neat).  

Friday, 7th June (Mahanandi-Yaganti-Belum Caves - Kurnool - Alampur- Hyderabad)

Took bath in the pool in the temple, had darshan and came out of the temple by 9.30 am.

10.00 am started towards Yaganti. Had breakfast in Nandyal (small roadside tiffin center in the outskirts).

Travelled through Panyam, Banaganapalli to reach Yaganti.  Took Darshan and had lunch at the temple annadanam.  Back to Banaganapalli and reached Belumcaves at 3.00 pm.  Started towards Kurnool - Alampur at 4.30 pm.

Reached Kurnool at 7.00pm, and could make to Alampur temple at 7.50 (Just few minutes before the temple closed). Had darshan and returned towards Hyderabd at 8.30.

Stopped at Indian Oil petrol pump for refuel on NH7, Had dinner at the same dabha.

Started towards Hyd at 10.00pm.  Took a nap at Jedcherla for about 45mnts. 

Reached home at 2.00 am in the early morning.

Overall about 1150 kms covered in 3 days.

Thanks to Driver / Vehile (Qualis) for giving us a safe and pleasant journey throughout the trip.
